Compensation: First-year expected earnings are approximately $120,000+, combining a competitive base salary with performance-based incentives tied to membership growth, engagement outcomes, and regional business investment. Role Description

The Membership Relations & Engagement Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role responsible for driving membership growth, strengthening business relationships, and advancing regional engagement across Southwest Washington. This position blends strategic relationship management with proactive community engagement to expand the Chamber’s impact and visibility.


This role maintains core B2B business development responsibilities while also leading engagement strategies that increase participation in civic and business forums, including city and county council meetings and regional groups that influence the business climate. The Director works closely with the Membership Relations team and Executive Team to strengthen business investment, support programming initiatives, and elevate the voice of the small business community.


The position requires strong executive presence, the ability to engage CEOs and C-suite leaders as well as small business owners, and a commitment to strengthening collaboration across the region.


Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with businesses ranging from emerging entrepreneurs to executive leadership teams.
  • Drive membership recruitment, retention, and engagement through proactive outreach and strategic relationship building.
  • Lead B2B sales efforts aligned with Chamber goals, including membership investments and program participation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to members by understanding business needs and connecting them to relevant Chamber initiatives.


Engagement & Regional Visibility

  • Increase business participation in local civic engagement opportunities, including city council, county council, and regional advisory groups impacting the business community.
  • Represent the Chamber at community meetings, industry events, and professional gatherings to strengthen relationships and expand visibility.
  • Build pathways for businesses to engage in advocacy, policy discussions, and regional collaboration efforts.


Business & Community Investment

  • Develop and support partnerships that advance Chamber programming throughout Southwest Washington.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business investment that strengthens programs supporting small and midsize employers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align engagement strategies with workforce development, leadership programs, and community initiatives.


Team Collaboration & Strategy

  • Partner with the Membership Relations team to align outreach, engagement, and growth strategies.
  • Work with executive leadership to identify trends impacting businesses and recommend strategic responses.
  • Track engagement metrics, membership activity, and regional participation to inform decision-making and reporting.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or relationship management.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to engage both senior leaders and small business owners.
  • Demonstrated success building partnerships and expanding community engagement.
  • Knowledge of regional economic development, business advocacy, or Chamber environments preferred.
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally in public forums and stakeholder meetings.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (salesforce a plus), Microsoft Office Suite, and data tracking tools.
