Share
The City of Vancouver has implemented a new Business & Occupation (B&O) tax that applies to businesses engaged in retail sales or retail services within Vancouver city limits.
Who does not need to register or file:
- Businesses that do not conduct retail activity under the City’s definition.
- Business locations that do not fall within city limits
Who does need to register:
- Businesses within city limits that are classified as retail or retail services – that have $50,001 or more in annual gross receipts (or $12,501 or more per quarter).
- The tax rate is 0.10% of gross receipts.
Important: Even if a business owes no tax, they must still file a quarterly return.
- Businesses with $50,000 or less in annual gross receipts (or $12,500 or less per quarter) will owe no tax — but must still submit a return.
First filing deadline: April 30
Eligible businesses are encouraged to set up their Localgov account now so they’re ready when filing opens.
