The Future Leaders Project (FLP) team is excited to share that grants are available to subsidize hosting FLP Interns for a limited number of nonprofit organizations in Clark and Cowlitz counties during Summer 2027.
The Future Leaders Project is a partnership between Workforce Southwest Washington (WSW), Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC), and Washington State University Vancouver (WSU Vancouver) that helps WSU Vancouver students get connected with paid summer internships with local employers so they can build skills, expand their networks, and gain meaningful professional experience. All WSU Vancouver students are encouraged to apply to participate in the program, especially those who may have faced extra challenges on their path to college such as being the first in their family to attend or coming from a low-income background.
Thanks to the generous support of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, the FLP Team is excited to share that we will have the capacity to subsidize the cost of hosting a Future Leaders Intern for a limited number of nonprofit organizations during summer 2027.
Hosting FLP interns offers your company many benefits, including:
- New ideas and fresh perspective
- Support for projects that employees otherwise might not have the time to complete
- Proven, cost-effective way to recruit and evaluate potential permanent employees
- Opportunities for staff to gain supervisory skills through mentoring and managing interns
- Effective public relations ambassadors, as interns often help increase the visibility of their host organization on campus and with their peers and family members
- Opportunities to promote community involvement and demonstrate your organization’s commitment to workforce development – an excellent public relations tool!
Requests for funding are due by 7 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026.
