About Us

Pink Lemonade Project (PLP), founded in 2010 by Drs. Allen and Cassie Gabriel, two Vancouver-based physicians, with the mission to educate, empower and support people affected by breast cancer. PLP provides emotional, psychological, financial, and community support to breast cancer patients during and after treatment across Oregon and SW Washington.

Nationwide, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and in the Pacific Northwest, the rate is one in seven women. One percent of men get breast cancer too. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2022, 4,070 new breast cancer cases will be diagnosed in Oregon (11/day), and 7,020 in Washington (19/day). Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, and the survival rate is significantly lower for women of color. Today, our programs span the cancer continuum from outreach, education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, living with metastatic breast cancer, and end of life.

Today, PLP is well-positioned to be a leading breast cancer organization in partnership with all the local healthcare systems by increasing the rate of survivorship and decreasing the rate of mortality, overall improving the quality of life for breast cancer patients during / after treatment.
