Happy Groundhog Day!

Since 1886 (only 4 years before the Chamber’s inception), the Groundhog Day practices have been a yearly tradition honoring the weather predictions made by the famous Punxsatawney Phil. It is believed by some that this incredible groundhog is the oldest in the world, having lived to make the predictions since day 1. However, for the typical groundhog, the lifespan is approximately six years.

According to the tradition approaching this Sunday, if Punxsatawney Phil sees his shadow and returns to his hole, there will be six more weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, there will be spring-like weather from there-on-out. Either way, we very well know there will be at least six more weeks of rain in our future. At least it’s reliable, right?
