As the Third Monday of February rolls around, we honor our founding fathers who worked on our ancestors’ behalves to build what we now refer to as the United States. What you may not know is that this observance was adapted from the original recognition of George Washington’s birthday (February 22, 1732). Now, we celebrate all of our previous presidents while spending time with loved ones.

Researching Presidents’ Day factoids for today’s Fun Note Friday, I came across a shockingly accurate quote, dated back to the time of Abraham Lincoln. Although many sources contradict this statement, a popular recreation of a Lincoln quote is as follows: “There are no bad pictures; that’s just how your face looks sometimes.” Allegedly, we’re pretty similar, after all.

Chamber Programs & Events:

Platinum Ribbon Cutting – Tuesday, February 18
Join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of Stretch Zone on Tuesday! Meet with their practitioners and tour the newest location at 19111 SE 34th Street, Suite 105, in Vancouver. Swing by between 4 – 5 PM for a tour of this facility and to participate in special event pricing offers! The ribbon will be cut at 4:30 PM.

Leads & Needs: East Vancouver – Wednesday, February 19
It’s time for our East Vancouver Leads & Needs event next Wednesday! The final morning connection-making event of the month will be hosted at Chick-fil-A Cascade Park with a presentation by Arrow Timber Framing! Remember to pre-register as this event is one of our most popular signature events.


Community Events:

BIA’s Membership Dinner Meeting – Thursday, February 20
The Building Industry Association presents its February dinner focused on impacts on small businesses while covering recently passed legislation and impacts.

Winter Weekend Chautauqua – Saturday, February 22
The Historic Trust presents Winter Weekend Chautauqua, an exploration of the Buffalo Soldiers, the 1948 Vanport flood, and the NAACP in the Pacific Northwest through lectures and exhibits at Fort Vancouver Historic Site.
