Yes, that is actually me, circa 1981 as I was emceeing the show at the Grandstand during the Fair. For 13 years it was my honor to serve on the Clark County Fair Board of Directors. That was a time when we saw the Fair move from 6 days to 10 days and when structure was built for the horses and crowds, bringing in some of the largest Country and Pop music acts of the day. During this time, the likes of Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride and Charlie Daniels packed the grandstands. Of course, I should also mention how populated the barns were, full of 4-H and FFA projects as well as commercial herds providing Clark County residents a true County Fair experience.

While there is no Fair this year, the Fair Board has created a “Best Of” weekend to celebrate virtually the fun, thrills and excitement of past fairs. Take a trot down memory lane by visiting ClarkCoFair.com. I am hopeful that next year this time we will be able to meet together once again and share great times in the sun. For those of you missing your fair-favorite grub, I found a great resource for you and your loved ones to make at-home corn dogs, turkey legs, and even elephant ears!
