May is Vancouver's Small Business Month
City of Vancouver Steps up SBA's "Small Business Week," with "Small Business Month" (May)
The GVCC has been part of the City of Vancouver's preparation meetings (pictured below) with a wide variety of community partners that all support small business development. So far we've met twice to share what each group will be offering during Small Business Month in 2017 - with an aim to collaborate. The goal is to engage business owners and create workshops to suit problem areas. Additionally, it is to build community awareness to support local small businesses which make up almost 95% of the employers and provide 40% of our area jobs.
Chamber Seeks Community Stakeholder for Small Business Crawl Series in may
The Chamber is looking for a program sponsor to host two "Small Business Crawl" events. This program launched last year and featured a kick off event in uptown with Mayor Tim Leavitt. The Chamber, with our members and ambassador team stopped at seven locations: Bleu Door, Couve Cycle, Public Art Installation, H&R Block, Celestial Body Products, Yogurt Time and finally Trap Door. Each business owner shared with the group as the participants posted/tweeted with #couvesmallbiz. This is a great opportunity to sponsor an event where you can mobilize your staff and have a physical present (perhaps in all company logo attire). Email Teresa Lawwill for details.

We’re going to make a statement – Small Businesses are the Backbone of our Community! Join the GVCC, Ambassador team, and special guests as we walk a loop under one mile featuring five to seven small businesses. The 2017 crawls are being designed - and we need you to join us. The Chamber partners with the City and encourages particpants to post on social media with the #couveSMALLbiz hashtag.
