Leadership Clark County Works on Education Preview
The GVCC has a Leadership Clark County (LCC) team working on the Education Preview component of the Digital Technology Expo. This team has experience with nConnect and the STEM Network and is perfectly positioned to bring value to the students attending. They will do workshops with the students so they use their time wisely. They will teach them networking 101 and how to interface with professional businesses to maximize their time on the ground at the expo.

School Districts Also Face Technology Revolution
The GVCC featured the Vancouver and Evergreen School District Superintendents in the January/February "Vancouver VISION Magazine!" This story was part of the digital technology edition that focused on the upcoming Digital Technology Expo. This event will take place on Thursday, April 28th at the Hilton - sponsored by Comcast. View pages 22 and 23 of our Chamber's magazine to learn more about the technology revolution currently taking place at the Vancouver, Evergreen and Camas School Districts and about their advancements in education and hands-on learning regarding the STEM fields. The Educational Preview portion of the Expo will take place from 9-11am.
About the Educational Preview:
Technology vendors, speakers, and sponsors will be part of a unique occasion to engage our community's youth during the Educational Preview at the Digital Technology Expo from 9-11am on Thursday, April 28th at the Hilton. This is a time to showcase technology-based businesses with the goal of sparking creative young minds and, in turn, highlight potential employers in the industry of innovation and digital exploration. Both Clark College and WSUV will also be on hand to highlight programs and innovative projects which are part of the digital technology training avenues.
The STEM Network along with the Vancouver, Evergreen and Camas School districts will bring students from all over Clark County who have shown an interest or who are already taking computer technology/science courses. Participating high schoolers will be trained using specialized workshops to develop networking and other soft skills in order to prepare to make important connections. The expo is a perfect chance for students to practice their newfound capabilities and discover educational pathways which lead to opportunity right here in their own backyard.
This is an exciting opportunity to expand dialogue about the industry, and what employable skillsets look like within the technology sector, now and in the future. We encourage the connection between employers and students to be funneled through the STEM Network - if you are seeking partnerships with school districts or are interested in information about mentorship programs with students. Our education preview is designed to help connect industry and budding innovators through an educational portal in Clark County.
