special Event: 2007 Port Re:Port Breakfast THE TIME IS NOW

The Port of Vancouver will present a report on their 2006 successes and a look into their future on Wednesday, February 21st. The event will be held at the Red Lion Hotel at the Quay in Vancouver, starts at 7:30am and the cost will be $20. GOV. GREGOIRE REPORTS JOB PICTURE in clark County Continues to Shine

Recent figures from the Washington State Department of Employment security indicated that Clark County ended 2006 with 197,000 persons employed - up 1,200 over the November figures. The county's unadjusted employment rate for December was 4.7 percent. Gov. Gregoire attributed this increase to the steady increase in aerospace and software industries.

Riverview Community Bank announces the appointment of Greg Jurna as Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer in Riverview's Vancouver Financial Center. Riverview Community Bank has also appointed Connie Hladek to Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of their Longview office.

Southwest Washington Medical Center opened a comprehensive would healing center at its Memorial Campus. The center provides treatment for both complex and simple wounds, using specialty dressings and bio-engineered tissue substitues. To be added in the spring will be southern Washington's first hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

At the GVCC's monthly East Forum, guest speaker Chris Butler of Riverview Community Bank's Asset Management team provided an overview of business investment trends for the future. They included:
Think overseas for new markets
Commodity prices will still be volatile in the year ahead.
Employment looks good, but will get harder for businesses to find good candidates.
The GVCC's next East Forum is February 9th.

The Clark County Chapter of Credit Unions elected its 2007 Board of Directors and Chapter Officers. 2006 Chapter highlights included a charity motorcycle ride fundraiser for Doernbecher Childrlen's Hospital, a toy drive for Bridge the Gap and several sponsorships.
