We heard our membership and we are responding. Our survey results show that it is time for one of our Leads and Needs formats and locations to change. Join us for the kick-off of this pilot event. This format offers more time for networking, more opportunity to meet a variety of people, as well as learning to network effectively. Our first Speed Networking on May 14 is FREE.
With your input, the GVCC will grow and change this format from May to August. The event will not be sponsored. The charge to attend is $10.00 If you bring a non-member guest, your entrance is free. (Note: A guest may come to one Speed Networking and then he or she must decide to join to attend again.)

5/16 -- WSU-Vancouver Chancellor's Seminar Series: Climate Changes: Fact or Fiction
12 - 1:30 p.m. at WSU Vancouver, 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave. , Vancouver . Speaker: Dr. George Mount. Climate change is a topic of current international debate and appears in the media constantly. Is it occurring? If it is, what are the causes? The implications of climate change concern everyone from policy makers to scientists to conversationists to business owners and the ordinary citizen.
Fee for seminar is $30. Fee includes lunch and parking in the ORANGE lots.

Carmen Villarma, president of Vancouver-based The Management
Group, Inc., and GVCC Board of Directors Chair, has been chosen
as Woman Executive of the Year in the $25 million and under category by the Portland Business Journal, based on nominations from the publication’s readers and staff. Villarma founded TMG with two employees in 1985. Today TMG has more than 14,000 residential single - and multi-family units and homeowner associations on its roster. Currently in development is Battle Ground Village, a new open-air, mixed-use community in Battle Ground. Villarma serves on the Board of First Independent Bank and Washington State University’s Diversity Council.
She was appointed by Gov. Gregoire to the Washington State Economic Development Finance Authority board of directors. Villarma was also recently honored as one of the most powerful women in
Clark County. Villarma and her company also support the Southwest Washington Breast Cancer Center, Relay for Life, the Friends of the Library and the Foundation for Early Learning.
Mark Matthias, Beaches Restaurant co-founder and community leader extraordinaire, was named Clark County's First Citizen for 2008 by the Community Foundation. Matthias is known for his energy and giving spirit. He is an active Chamber member and longtime host of Leads & Needs at Beaches. Matthias also pitched in to host the GVCC holiday event in 2007.
