About the Region
Welcome to the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area located in southwest Washington along the North Bank of the Columbia River in and around Vancouver , Washington , USA .
What makes the North Bank a great place to live, work, shop and play? It all boils down to quality of life.

Even explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who traversed the area as they made their way to the Pacific Ocean in 1805-1806, knew a great place to call home when they saw it. In his journal in 1806, Lewis noted, "indeed the only desirable situation for a settlement which I have seen on the West side of the Rocky Mountains ."

Vancouver became the first non-native settlement in the Pacific Northwest when, Nineteen years after Lewis and Clark 's journey, the Hudson 's Bay Company established Fort Vancouver , now operated by the U.S. Park Service.

The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce is proud to have served visitors to the region since 1890. Please call on us if you need additional relocation information, area demographics or are interested in joining the Chamber.
